Coffee: our passion

We are a local roastery, combining craftsmanship and technological innovation.

Since 1976, in the city Arcola, province of La Spezia, we have been roasting coffee with care and attention, selecting the best green beans and materials on the market.

For us, coffee is culture and we put it in your cup every day.

it all started in the 1800s

In the 19th century, Crastan started as a grocery store. It was only in the 1930s, that the brand specialized in roasting coffee. At the time, the Bar Crastan in via Chiodo was a trendy place in La Spezia at the time, it was later destroyed by a bomb in 1943, during World War II. After the war and the rebuilding of the Italian economy, new commercial needs gave rise to the current company, which was acquired by the Costa family in 1976. Today, CRASTAN Caffè srl is a modern roasting company.

THE best coffee for your needs

We roast coffee maintaining the highest quality standards and paying attention to the needs of both the people involved in the coffee process and of those who drink it every day at home, at the bar, in the office or in the restaurant. In order to do this, the upgrade of the equipment is continuous, as well as the selection of raw materials operated by our workshop and the production processes' control.

In addition to our coffee roaster, we work with pods and capsules made of compostable materials, and with machines conceived for limited productions of high-quality Specialty coffees.

The history of coffee in our museum

Coffee, history, and culture inspire our work everyday. In addition to roasting coffee, our roastery houses a museum.

Here you can find  a vast number of espresso machines, from the very first models, through real design gems, to models that were more popular in recent history. In our museum you can also find hundreds of coffee grinders from different epochs, different types of moka pots, and the most diverse equipment for coffee extraction.

Additionally, our mission involves the preservation and the passing on of history.

Crastan and The Art of Walter Tacchini

The first floor of our factory is dedicated for the exhibition o the works of Walter Tacchini, an artist famous for his masks and the use of ceramics ed.

Walter Tacchini's art is closely linked to our company. In fact, his laboratory is located near the roasting plant and his works have always been linked to the image of our brand and our coffee.

The future we want to build

For over 10 years, the challenge has been to research green coffees and production and packaging systems that are sustainable from a social and environmental point of view. Through business decisions and adhering to initiatives that ties together companies based on the same principles, CRASTAN is shifting its focus to tackle these topics.
